New Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Reference Ranges for Right Ventricular Volumes and Systolic Function: What Is New and Why Should We Care?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Accurate quantitation of right ventricular (RV) volumes and systolic function provides important diagnostic and prognostic information in a wide range of conditions. In the case of heart failure, a preserved RV ejection fraction (RVEF) is associated with improved long-term survival. The most recent task force criteria for the diagnosis of arrhythmogenic RV cardiomyopathy require the presence of abnormal measurements of RV end-diastolic volume or RVEF to fulfil the major imaging criterion for diagnosis of the condition. In pulmonary arterial hypertension, increased RV end-diastolic volume and decreased RV stroke volume independently predict mortality and after myocardial infarction, RV function is an independent prognostic marker of clinical outcome.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملNormalized left ventricular systolic and diastolic function by steady state free precession cardiovascular magnetic resonance.
We used state of the art CMR to define ranges for normal left ventricular volumes and systolic/diastolic function normalized to the influence of gender, body surface area and age. New CMR normalized ranges were modeled and displayed in graphical form for clinical use, with normalization for body surface area, gender, and age. The determination of normality, or the severity of abnormality, depen...
متن کاملTransthoracic Echocardiography in Children and Young Adults with Congenital Heart Disease
Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is the first-line tool for diagnosis and followup of pediatric and young adult patients with congenital heart disease (CHD). Appropriate use of TTE can reduce the need for more invasive modalities, such as cardiac catheterization and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. New echocardiographic techniques have emerged more recently: tissue Doppler imaging, tissu...
